ISLAMABAD: Plan International, as part of its global campaign: ‘Because I Am A Girl’, is aspiring to support young girls to symbolically takeover leadership roles in political, economic and social spaces.
It is expected that this initiative will help highlight issues faced by girls across the world and inspire others to join the movement for girls’ rights and take affirmative actions.
From Peru to Japan, girls from across the world took over from prime ministers, mayors and CEOs to mark this year’s International Day of the Girl.
By holding more than 600 ‘takeovers’ in more than 60 countries, Plan International has empowered girls to demand a political and social revolution against the discrimination and prejudice which hold them back in private and public life.
Plan International Pakistan held four takeovers at the offices of Ministry of Human Rights, UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, IG Police and CEO Telenor, who symbolically ceded control to girls.
