ISLAMABAD: While talking to reporters outside the accountability court, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that they would not let elections be delayed at any cost.
He made this comment in response to a question he was asked about a possible delay in elections following the failed assassination attempt on Ahsan Iqbal.
Commenting on the Supreme Court’s order to call back police personnel working with non-essential individuals, the PML-N leader questioned where the minister’s security was when the incident occurred.
He also stated that if the allegations against him had been legitimate, they would have come to an end in eight weeks rather than eight months.
While telling the media that it was his 62nd appearance before the court, he wondered how long these cases would take to come to an end.
He said that there was nothing in the cases so they should have been taken back by now.
He also claimed that the evidence brought by the prosecution failed to provide anything substantial against him and his family with regard to the charges.
