LAHORE – Minister for Pakistan Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday directed the authorities concerned to start beautification and improvement work along tracks from Kot Lakhpat to Shahdara.
A meeting held at Pakistan Railways Headquarters here discussed matters related to beautification and improvement of the railway track from Shahdara to Raiwind. Addressing the meeting, he said that in the first phase, work should be carried out on the areas which were thickly populated and where the work should be completed in a short time.
Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General Mian Shakeel briefed the minister in detail about the project. The meeting discussed various aspects of the project to make it the best, so that people could enjoy facilities that would be provided to them at various points along the track.
The minister also directed authorities concerned that proper safety measures should be adopted at those places where recreational facilities would be provided along the track under this project. It is pertinent to mention here that the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had given initial approval of this project.
Efforts were being made for signing of an agreement between the PHA and Railways at the earliest. Lahore Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal, PHA Vice Chairman Iftikhar Ahmad, Waqar Sheikh, Anjum Pervaiz, Lahore DCO Captain (retired) Muhammad Usman, PR AGM Infrastructure Humayun Rashid and others were also present on the occasion.
